Bad Back, Back Problem? Are Recliners a Good Choice?

Back problems have been among the leading causes for doctor visits, since walking on two legs puts a large amount of stress on the spine. There are also sports injuries, sitting for hours while working, extra weight and, of course, stress as one of the many factors that cause back problems. All these problems put stress on the back muscles, which can develop into a serious back pain. The fact that people spend approximately $1,000,000 per year trying to solve these issues is proof enough of how serious they can be.

Is a recliner a good choice for the bad back problem?
If you are experiencing a back problem, and you don’t want to spend a big amount of money treating it over the years to come, you might consider getting yourself a brand new recliner chair. The fact that more than 68% of doctors recommend recliners for related back pain says a lot, but that is just one of the many reasons why recliners are good for your back.

Recliners can help solve these problems because they reduce the amount of pressure that burdens your back. When seated, the spine experiences more stress than in a standing position. When standing, other parts of your body, such as your legs and pelvis, are carrying some of the weight of your body. But when seated, all the work is done by your spine, since it absorbs your upper body weight. Sitting positions have been tested by the medical community, and it has been proven that the 90-degree position is not at all good, since it puts a lot of stress on the ligaments of your spine.

If you are suffering from back pain, but don’t own a single truly comfortable chair, it might be time to make some changes. Investing in a good recliner equals investing in your health. While sitting or laying in the recliner, you rest your spine as well as by lifting up your legs. This position can also prove to be of help in dealing with varicose veins, because it makes the blood flow back to your heart. If your back problem is in an advanced stage, you should consider getting a massage recliner. It is a bit more expensive, but it helps with spasms. When buying a recliner, make sure you try out a number of different models, and keep looking until you have found the one that will suit you best.

A major percentage of back pains are muscle spasms. I can attest that when I feel muscles on the verge of starting to spasm there is nothing better than putting my feet up in the recliner, which takes the pressure off the back muscles. Sometimes I’ll take a muscle relaxer then go in the recliner. There is definitely no doubt that there is a benefit having a recliner for back muscle spasms.
